2011 in review

I thought that some of you might enjoy this 2011 annual report prepared by WordPress.  I found it interesting, and I really am glad that WordPress provides this sort of information.  As a matter of fact, I have enjoyed having a WordPress blog and would recommend WordPress to anyone.  A tutorial about alpha channels will be coming soon, Skip

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 76,000 times in 2011. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 3 days for that many people to see it.

  1. Big smile here Skip. Congratulations! You work hard, really hard, you share your brushes to digital painter lovers at no cost. I was particularly glad to read in the full report that your watercolor gallery ranked very high in the report. Kudo’s!

    • Thanks Kathy. I was surprised by the numbers and the viewer’s country of origin. The world is definitely getting smaller and smaller. Did you notice that you are the number 1 commenter? Thank you very much for your support.

      Big Hugs, Skip

  2. :>) well..not surprising at all Skip! … that should at least in some way, tell you how respected and well thought of you are … like I always say … saying thank you Skip seems to be a permanent phrase in my vocabulary … so I’ll just say it again,
    THANK YOU SKIP!!!!

    • Thank you Charlie. Respected, eh, I think they are coming to see Kevin…LOL. Whatever the reason, I am grateful that anyone drops by and hope they keep coming. 🙂 Charlie, I appreciate your support more than you know. Your friendship and encouragement keep me posting.

      Big Hugs, Skip

    • Thank you Karen. You know without your friendship and mentoring, I wouldn’t be doing any of this. When I started taking your classes in Sep 2008, my world changed.

      Big Hugs,
      Skip

  3. Skip,
Yours is the very first (and only) blog to which I subscribe (that may be a generational thing lol!) Long before I subscribed, I visited your blog several times a week. That is because (and I hate to sound repetitive) of your generosity with your time and ideas and talent. I come from a family of teachers, and you have the true teacher’s attitude toward sharing and helping.I picked up the digital art hobby a couple of years ago as a type of therapy, and because of your encouragement it has become a very enjoyable addiction! Thanks a bunch!
    Candace

    • Oh Candace, what a lovely note. BTW, this is my first blog, which is probably a generational thing, too. We share our addiction my friend. Thank you so much.

      Big hugs,
      Skip

  4. Glad to see there are some fellow addicts out there lol! Skip I told you that your blog was getting great traffic and why! I hope you believe me now! Your generosity and hard work are what makes it happen and we can tell you love what you are doing 🙂
    Hugs,
    Joan

    • Thanks Joan! I know I get some traffic from your site; thank you very much. I really have no comparison for what other Painter blogs do. I suspect that they receive a lot more hits than I do. But…I really don’t care; I am so happy that I have anyone visit. That is really cool.

      Hugs,
      Skip

  5. Congratulations Skip. I certainly have created significant foot traffic to the site. It is wonderous – so filled with tools and information to inspire. Once you get your new computer set up, you will create even more – though I can not imagine time in your life for more. Only having 24 hours in a day is a real problem! Thank you so much for all you do and give. Your fan, Winifred

    • Hey Winifred…you have definitely created significant foot traffic to the site. All your FB post bring folks in…it is amazing. I appreciate your kind support.

Now about that 24 hours in a day…I’m going to start taking it two days at a time…I think that would be way more productive than one day at a time. 🙂

Thanks bunches and I love your work,
      Skip

  6. Hello Skip and Congratulations !!!

Your blog is really worth it and I does feel that I’m in Louvre Museum. So beautiful paintings to explore and look at. Not enough time to see everything and always want to come back :-).
Like for the Louvre (even if I used to live in Paris), I haven’t explored eveything in your blog yet.

But ii’s one of my self wishes for 2012 🙂

    See you very soon,

    Phuong Le Boillaud
