Hello Everybody,
A question came from Paul via the Digital Art Gallery. He uses Elements to make a signature and recently saw someone make a signature brush in Photoshop. He wanted to know if you can make a signature in Painter 12.2.
Absolutely Paul, you can make a signature in Painter 12.2. Check out this video:
Well, wouldn’t you know it. I forgot to talk a bit about the Text Tool. I will save covering the Text Tool in-depth for another time.
Okay, that is how I would make a signature in Painter 12.2

Thanks for another “Aha!” moment, Skip. Now to get that pesky slippery stylus on the Wacom tablet under control so my signature doesn’t look like a 2 year old did it…
Hi Wardie,
Hope all is well. Thanks for the comment. I know the feeling of that slippery stylus. I have to write very fast, but then I can’t make out the letters. I think there is way in Painter to smooth a line, but for the life of me I cannot remember how to do it. I may be confusing the issue with ArtRage’s ability to smooth a line.
Take care mate,

Skip, I made my signature as a brush from a scanned signature jpeg. This may not be the right way to do it, but it worked for me and it was very simple to do.
Hi Eva,
You bet…making a signature brush is another way to make a signature in Painter or Photoshop. In the second sentence of the blog post, I mentioned that Paul had used Elements to make a signature and that he recently saw a demo for making a signature brush in Photoshop. So I didn’t mention any more about the technique.
There are no right or wrongs…just the best way for you to do it. Hope all is well with you.

Hi Skip
Great, now I don’t have to spend so much time trying to get it right every time! Thanks so much for the tip!
Happy Painting!
Joan
Hey Joan,
We have to figure out how to make one that looks like watercolor.
