Hello Everyone,
Karen Bonaker noticed that there were new drivers at Wacom posted on 4/28/2014. Thank you Karen; I missed it. The Mac drivers are still the ones from 4/7/2014…so no new drivers for Macs. The legacy drivers for older tablets using a PC are also updated.
I did install the new ones and I’m not having any trouble with them. But, as always, if you are not having any problems you may want to stay with your current drivers.
I don’t know if you guys know this or not, but my computer crashed. It was under extended warranty so I am getting a replacement machine, which should arrive tomorrow afternoon. Hallelujah! The replacement is actually better than the original. Want to know the specs. OK…here you go.

There is a bit of confusion about Windows. I am getting Windows 7 Ultimate, which is what was on the original machine.

Skip that sounds like a monster that you are getting. It is going to be a great to use. I wondered why you had gone silent. I was thinking of you because my 88 year old Aunt who is a prolific and active artist in Trinidad has just gone digital. She installed painter x3 about three weeks ago. Bless her heart, but she is struggling through the learning curve, and I am filled with admiration. I want to direct her to some very , and I mean very basic getting started videos. Any that you would recommend from your site for her? Marlene

By the way. When you’re back on Youtube you should see a message from me re: How to add color to a pencil or pen drawing without smudging or painting over the pencil/pen marks in Painter.
I also emailed Elaina when I didn’t hear back from you (No worries) and her reply is below. She thought her process was the long way 🙂 Please let me know what you think and if you have the same or different process. The drawing was created in Painter by the way.

Elaina’s reply. > > 1. Open the drawing in Painter. > 2. Go to Select>All > 3. Tap the image with the Layer Adjuster. This will float it to its own layer. > 4. Change the layer Composite method of the drawing layer to “Gel” which will make all the white parts transparent. > 5. Add a new layer and do your coloring. Be sure to rename the layer “Coloring Layer” so you don’t get confused, and place it beneath the original drawing layer. > 6. On the Coloring layer, erase any areas where you do not want the color, using the drawing layer as your guide. > 7. When you’re happy with the results, hold down your Ctrl/Cmd key and click on each layer, then go to Layers>Collapse. > > > > > > >

Where was your comment on You Tube? I did miss it. I’ve missed a lot lately due to health issues. All better now, but still taking it a bit slow. Are you asking how to color a pencil drawing or did you say how to do it and Elaina was offering an alternative? There are many ways to do the same thing in painter. If I could see the sketch that you are making, it would be easier to give you my solution. If your pencil sketch is made like a solid line…like you might see around the figures in a comic book, then when the lines cross they create a cell. Using the paint bucket, you can easily fill each cell. Be sure that the fill cell icon is active in the bucket tool’s property bar. Tell me where you posted on You tube and I’ll take a look. Sorry I missed it.
The new computer is so exciting! It is like moving to a great new place, except better. All of the fun without having to lift heavy boxes! It sounds like a dream machine.

hey skip you are going to love your new alienware I got one almost like yours and I love it and would not trade it for anything except another alienware. these disktop are made to last, I use my alien with my painter x3 and I never have any trouble with lag, or crashing and I have done so really big stuff, so if you ever need any help with your alienware please just give me a haller I will do what I can

This is my second Alienware. The first one died at about 2 years, but I had it under extended warranty, so they had to replace it with something equal to or better. This one is better. I’m grateful for that, but I’m not grateful that the machine died and I’m having to install everything again. I had great luck with the first one until it died. I do love the speed!!!
