Hello Everyone,
I am slipping. I totally missed that Wacom posted new drivers on April 23, 2012. I checked Wacom Europe and it doesn’t look like the driver posted there, yet. I did not check any other regions.
I didn’t notice any new features.
Don’t forget to back up your settings by opening the Wacom Tablet Preference File Utility prior to the new install. I always uninstall the current driver before installing the new one. Once installed, I restore my settings using the Wacom Tablet Preference File Utility. This makes it easy to reset the tablet to my custom preferences.
Check for new drivers here. The new driver is for the intuos and cintiq lines…and includes the Intuos 5, too.

Hi Skip, I did catch the new drivers and installed. I had saved my preferences but when trying to restore them the new driver didn’t recognize 😦
Not sure if my case is isolated and/or related to Being on Mac OS Lion.

Thanks for the comment. I am sure it will be of interest to other MAC OS Lion users. Everything worked fine on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC. I had problems with the previous version. If any other MAC users have problems, please let us know.

Skip, this is easy question I’m sure, but how do you uninstall the current driver? I see a button in the tablet utility pgm that says Remove….is that it?

If you are using a PC, open the Start Menu, and select Control Panel. In Control Panel select Programs > Uninstall a program. In the window that pops up, look for Wacom Tablet. Select it and click uninstall. Close other applications because after the uninstall you will be asked to restart your computer. When you come back…then just double click the downloaded file and you program with new drivers will install.
If you are on a MAC, it would be something similar, but I don’t know the exact steps.

just for your info (and anyone else who cares) when I installed the driver (3 times) my Win 7 computer refused to boot any more. Instead it went into “Startup Repair” which just went back to my last restore point, so I lost the new Wacom driver. Sent email to Wacom, and basically their reply can be summerised as:
1. Uninstall driver (which I did anyway)
2. Delete all other Wacom files manually.
3. Install driver in Safe Mode.
Now it all works (happy happy face).
I will paste the unedited reply below in case anyone else needs it.

Regarding the information you provided, we would suggest you to follow the steps below for troubleshooting.
1. Uninstall your current driver.
Disconnect the tablet from the PC
Click on Start > click on Control panel > select Programs and Features > click to highlight Wacom Tablet > click on Uninstall
2. Search and delete all Wacom related files.
Click on Start > click on Search > type the following keywords on the Search text field, and then delete all Wacom related files.
• Wacom
• Wintab
• Tablet
• Pentab
We recommend that you restart your PC after removing all Wacom related files.
Connect the tablet to the PC
3. To download the latest driver for your tablet. Please follow the URL link below.

a) Select your Tablet model: Intuos 4
b) Select your Operating System: Windows 7
c) Click on Download on the far right of the most updated driver (Driver 6.3.1w3 for USB Tablets on Windows 7, Vista or XP (32 & 64 bit) Dated: 23/Apr/2012)
4. Boot your PC in Safe Mode
Click on Restart then continuously press F8 before Windows loads and select Safe Mode.
5. Install the tablet’s driver that you have downloaded (Driver 6.3.1w3 for USB Tablets on Windows 7)
Notes for installing tablet drivers:
• Temporarily disable your Anti-virus and Windows firewall before running the driver installer.
• Temporarily disconnect Network connections and other USB devices connected to the PC.
• Connect the tablet to a powered USB port, preferably directly to the motherboard.
• Make sure that you are logged in as a Computer Administrator.
• Try connecting the tablet to a different USB port or different PC if necessary.
• Clean the PC’s RAM to free disk space and make processing faster.
• Download and install latest updates for your Operating System.
6. Boot your PC in Normal Mode
