Happy Belated New Year…a quick summary of what’s been going on.

Hello Friends,

I haven’t posted in a while; life keeps getting in the way of fun.  My sweet sister had a stroke a year ago last September and needed some help.  It is just the two of us left in our family; neither of us have kids and we have outlived everyone else.  Joy wants to stay independent and live alone in our family home, which we have been in since the 60’s I think.  So, I have been in Mississippi for over a month helping her making the house suitable for a handicapped person.  I think we have done what we can.  Now it is up to Joy to keep working hard with physical therapy and continuing to improve.  I also had a bit of surgery…a total knee replacement…fantastic BTW.  My new knee is amazing and I love it…I’m able to get around like a kid again.  OK, enough of the personal stuff.

Once again WordPress developed an annual report for my blog.  It is pretty cool; I always enjoy reading it.  I am most interested in where the visitors to the blog live…or I guess where they were when they visited the blog.  This year there were folks visiting from 181 countries.  Since WordPress has kept records, there have been visitors from 186 countries.  There are only 196 in the world.  It would be so cool to have visitors from every one of them.  Anyway, if you interested, do check out the stats below.  Enjoy, Skip

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 240,000 times in 2014. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 10 days for that many people to see it.

  2. 186 countries, that really is amazing to think about! I have learned so much from you, and to think you’ve taught something to people all around the world, that is such a powerful thing and an amazing blessing! I wish you and your sister the best of happiness and health in the years to come!

    • Hi Suzy,
Thank you so much for your comment. My mind boggles when I think of all the countries. I laugh at myself and say it is probably someone from my home state visiting an exotic country just checking out the blog. I really am just an old dude living in rural Georgia who is bumfuzzled by all this.

  3. Hi Skip, Thank you for writing. I totally understand about taking care of your sister and yourself. I am taking care of my father 95 and mom 93. It’s not easy to see them and yourself “getting younger”. I retired with not much money so that I could take care of my parents here in Panama as I am the only child. I know very few people and have to learn to adjust to a new environment as well. Well, hey, I can’t go out to take photographs by myself here (not safe), so I am learning how to draw and paint digitally. So I appreciate all your help. I did have the terrible problem with painter 2015 and the Windows upgrade, but I called Corel and I let them fix it for me!! Well, good to have you back and I’m glad your knee is fine. Take care, Mayra Date: Thu, 12 Feb 2015 00:20:11 +0000 To: tmayra@hotmail.com

    • Hi Mayra, You are a wonderful daughter. I am glad that painting and drawing digitally is there for you.
I am also thrilled to hear that Corel helped you with the NET Framework issue. I have heard the opposite lately. So glad you had a good experience.

So glad to hear that all is well now with you. Was concerned about you! You are
missed! Love the beautiful flower. Look forward to you continuing with it and to
    the brushes used for this.

  5. Glad to see you back Skip and I’ll say a prayer for your sister. Your sharing , knowledge and experiences with others means you will never be alone since you have a kinship with all who view your work and friendship. Thanks for being who you are.
