Hello Everyone,
OMGosh, the blog hits 1,000,000 views today. I cannot believe it. I know that is small numbers compared to a lot of blogs, but it is a big number to me. Thank you bunches and bunches for your support. I have loved doing the blog and meeting all of you.
So, to celebrate, I scheduled two live sessions. One this morning and one this evening. Please feel free to join one or both of them. What will the webinar be about? I don’t know…you tell me. I know I will play in Corel Painter 2016 and the rest is up to you. I will answer questions and take requests; as long as the requests are about painting. I can’t sing or dance, but I can juggle oranges. Shoot, I just checked and I don’t have any oranges, so that is not an options. Anyway, come on by and let’s talk Painter 2016

I love doing this style. It is pretty fast…just make a few quick strokes and let the water flow do the rest.

This last one is a work in progress. I need to get back to it. Images that take a while to do, tend to bore me and I stop working on them, but I like the way this one was going.

Tuned in late but got a lot out of the webinar. You do a great job. Have you or will you do a tutorial on how you make new of your new brushes like wetting agent. I will be getting 2016 since I have held off for several version I’m on 2012 version but love the new brush engine.
Thank you very much. It was really a hodge podge…LOL. Nothing was really planned and those can sometimes be the most fun. Glad you are upgrading to 2016, you will love it.

Skip, Love the Blue Heron. Wish it was on the Corel web site in the gallery. What a gorgeous example of what can be done with the program, and, although not a detailed painting, it stands as it is. Sometimes, less really is more. 🙂
Thank you very much, Elaina. I am hearing from so many folks that I respect about how much they like that painting…even as is. It is hard for me to paint that way; it is too slow and methodical. I want the experience to be spontaneous. But, like you said, this style shows the incredible versatility of Painter. I kept trying to figure out what the background was supposed to be and I couldn’t. I think that is why I stopped. I actually have a bunch of paintings that I consider not finished that haven’t seen the light of day. 🙂 Maybe I need to rethink my position on them. Thanks again for taking the time to comment and for your insight.

I focused on that heron first but your landscape has stayed in my mind too. Which brushes did you use? I like the fringing effect as well as the nice run of flow maps

I really don’t remember what brushes I was using. They were custom brushes that I don’t think I saved. In other words I was just playing and making tweaks to the brushes, but not worrying about saving them. I do that a lot. Also, I’m pretty sure the day I was doing these types of landscapes, I wasn’t using flow maps, but I was using papers. The day I made that image, Winifred Whitfield and I were playing on a go to meeting and I was just throwing paint around. I actually abandoned the landscape that I posted. We were looking for landscapes within the landscape and I cropped the image and continued working on it. Later, I took another look at the original landscape and decided to post it. I’ll try to do something similar and talk about it in class…maybe that way I can figure out the brushes and papers used. Enjoy, Skip
