Where do I find the driver that is installed so that I can uninstall before downloading the updated one? Thanks Terry
Hi Terry,
I do not know for a MAC, but for Windows, go to your Start Menu and select Control Panel. In Control Panel, go to Programs > Program and Features > Uninstall a Program > then look for Wacom in the list. Once found, select it and right click and select uninstall. Then just follow what it tells you to do. Hope this helps.

Hi Skip… been a while and nice to hear from you. Since our last emails I have upgraded to a super system (PC unfortunately) that will handle Painter 12 and everything else I own. My wacom tablet drivers have been updated up to July this year and now I see there is a new one. My question is, you say to uninstall the previous drivers before downloading and installing the new, but doesn’t that erase all your custom settings for each program? Does this mean that every time there is a new driver update that we have to go in there and reset all the settings over again for each program? Seems like a real hassle. Any way around it?

OK…to the question. When you go to your Wacom Tablet Program and notice that you have Wacom Tablet Properties, you will notice that you have a Wacom Tablet Preference File Utility (W.T.P.F.U.). It is the W.T.P.F.U. that is your best friend. Before you uninstall your previous driver you open the W.T.P.F.U. and select Backup. A new window will open and you select a place for the file to be stored. I have a folder called Custom Painter Stuff with a sub-folder called Wacom Preferences.
Now you can uninstall the previous driver. Then install the new one. Now, go to the W.T.P.F.U. and this time select Restore. Navigate to where you saved your preferences and select them. That’s it. Your previous preferences will be restored. How easy is that? The W.T.P.F.U. is one of the best things about Wacom tablets.

As usual the Us. is the first! Hope you red my Wacom answer Skip. I tried to install the Us. version before but my Photoshop didn’t open, so I reinstalled to the European version. It clearly says in the installation progress: “This is the only for Us. (or Europe) So who knows why?
Anyway any news in the new driver?
By the way Terry, go to the control panel and find the “Program and functions” and uninstall from there, If you are working in windows. (Have no idea in Mac.) 🙂

Bummer. It is so strange. There has to be an explanation for the release here first; it is probably something really simple that we wouldn’t know.
I don’t know much about the new driver…I haven’t installed it yet…LOL. I posted the link and then took a nap. This is what was placed on the download page:
Driver supports Intuos5 (PTH), Intuos4 (PTK) and Intuos3 (PTZ) pen tablets and the Cintiq 24HD, Cintiq22HD, Cintiq 21UX, Cintiq 12WX, Cintiq 20WSX, DTU-2231, DTU-1931 and DTU-1631 pen displays.
Save the file to your computer and then double-click on it to launch the installer.
Be sure to uninstall any current tablet driver installation before installing.
Note: If you are a left-handed pen user and use an Intuos5 or Cintiq 24HD touch, select your handedness in the “Options…” dialog box of the Wacom Tablet Properties control panel to enable proper functioning of palm rejection.

I did that but it said nothing about driver installed. I assume that you have to uninstall Wacom tablet. I am going to call Wacom before I uninstall anything.

I’m sorry I wasn’t clear. Yes, you uninstall the Wacom Tablet, which uninstalls the Wacom Driver, the Wacom Tablet Properties and the Wacom Tablet Preferences File Utility and any other thing associated with the Wacom Tablet. You will be required to reboot your computer after the uninstall. Then when you are up and running again, you install the new driver download which has all of the programs that you uninstalled. Do look at the other responses in this thread. I explain how to save your preferences and a bit more details.
A call to Wacom just to be safe is always an option. I will be very surprised if they tell you something different, but if they do, please report back so I can correct information that may be wrong.
