I don’t pretend to understand the philosophy behind Enso. Wikipedia states that in Zen, Enso is a circle that is hand drawn in one or two uninhibited brush strokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. For me it is similar to creating Sumi-e or using ink and brush to make the circle.
I cannot tell you why I like these images or why I enjoy doing them. I just do. I find the process relaxing. Normally I go too far and embellish the images as you will see in the first of the video. But I also do the simple one stroke forms but rarely save them.
I thought you might like to try them yourself. Just have fun. The practice also strengthens my drawing skills. Enjoy…

This is an example of Enso created in Corel Painter 2023. Let me know if you try Enso.
Enjoy, Skip
Always nice to see an email with your name attached. This looks satisfying.
It is satisfying and relaxing.
I’m skeptical, Skip. But I’ll go try this. You never know, right?
You can do it Kerry. You have been using Rebelle of late…do it in Rebelle. Have fun.
I tried it in Painter. It seemed like the brushes there made more sense. I really liked it! Plus I have more papers there.
i LOVE YOUR ENSO IMAGES, THEY ARE REALLY BEAUTIFUL!! THANK YOU!
Thank you.
