Another Watercolor in Painter 2023

I am continuing to explore watercolor and rice paper in Painter 2023. I guess we can shorten the name to Painter 2023, since Corel no longer owns the product. Painter is owned by Alludo currently. Whatever…doesn’t affect us directly. Anyway, the watercolor. I struggled with this one, for some reason. I never print so I usually paint a a low resolution of 100 ppi. But I am thinking the images will look much better at a higer resolution. I’ll let you know when I do a few more paintings at a higher resolution.

Paintings using Rice Paper and Watercolor in Corel Painter 2023

These are a couple of examples of watercolors done with Rice Paper in Corel Painter 2023. A couple were done while making the papers. First one is called Loose Arrangement and was the one done after papers were finished.

The next one is called Free Form and was done while perfecting the rice papers. I used watercolor and liquid ink.

The final one was also done while producing the papers. It is called Rice Paper Landscape.

I really enjoy watercolor in Corel Painter.

Rice Papers, Belated Valentine’s Gift for You!

Happy belated Valentine! I had planned to post this on Valentine’s Day. Oh well, win some lose some as they say.

I do have some papers and paper scripts to give you. The papers are rice papers and I love them. Have a look at a couple of them.

More Fun with Watercolor in Painter 2023

No tutorials this time; I am just sharing some recent work.

I am a bit out of practice, but I do love the sumi-e style. Watercolor in Painter 2023 using some of my custom brushes.

I call this style landscape abstracts. I want the simplest brush work possible but expressing a lot of content. I want the viewer to have participation in discovering their own landscape.

This last one I was trying to get a good emulation of traditional watercolor and a more traditional approach to painting in Painter 2023. I was pleased with the effort.

Fun With Enso in Corel Painter 2023

I don’t pretend to understand the philosophy behind Enso. Wikipedia states that in Zen, Enso is a circle that is hand drawn in one or two uninhibited brush strokes to express a moment when the mind is free to let the body create. For me it is similar to creating Sumi-e or using ink and brush to make the circle.

I cannot tell you why I like these images or why I enjoy doing them. I just do. I find the process relaxing. Normally I go too far and embellish the images as you will see in the first of the video. But I also do the simple one stroke forms but rarely save them.

I thought you might like to try them yourself. Just have fun. The practice also strengthens my drawing skills. Enjoy…
